Tips for Infant Sleep
As an infant sleep specialist, I understand that adjusting to a new baby's sleep schedule can be challenging. Here are four tips to help you and your baby get the sleep you need:
Create a consistent sleep routine: Infants thrive on routine and predictability. Establishing a consistent sleep routine can help signal to your baby that it's time for sleep. This can include a calming bedtime routine such as a bath, story, and song.
Pay attention to your baby's sleep cues: Your baby will give you signals when they are tired. Look for signs like yawning, rubbing their eyes, or staring blankly. Putting your baby down for a nap or bedtime when they are showing these cues can help them fall asleep more easily.
Practice safe sleep: Always follow safe sleep practices recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, including placing your baby on their back to sleep, using a firm sleep surface, and avoiding loose bedding, soft objects, and crib bumpers.
Get help: It's important to prioritize your own sleep needs as well. Consider asking for help from a partner, family member, or Me, just reach out! I'm totally available to help you to get the rest you need.
Remember that every baby is unique and may have different sleep needs. By being patient, consistent, and attuned to your baby's cues, you can help establish healthy sleep habits that work for your family.
