Birth of Ezra
As I sat in their quiet room, camera in hand, eagerly awaiting the arrival of another perfect tiny human, I couldn't help but reflect on my journey with this family who I met just a couple years ago for the birth of their daughter. This supermom, now practically a pro at bringing new life into the world, has trusted me to capture the most intimate, life-altering moments of her childbirth not once, but twice. Not only that, but she's trusted me with her Maternity and Newborn photos each time as well. I mean, talk about an all-access pass!
Tyffanie's breathing slowed as she gathered her strength for the final moments of labor. I was reminded of my first birth with her and was surprised by her ability to surrender to the experience and the moment. She was like a birthy goddess, ready to conquer the world (or at least her birthing space). She intuitively flipped over to her hands and knees and Tyffanie and her husband took a few cleansing breaths together.
Then, with just a few powerful pushes, the room filled with the sound of the baby’s first cries. I quickly adjusted my camera, ready to capture the raw emotion, pure joy, and overwhelming love that filled the space. As Kirk, the dad caught his baby, Ezra and gently unwrapped the cord from around his body, with the help of the entire birth team, I got every single unforgettable moment!
As Kirk and the birth team skillfully untangled the Ezra from his cord and placed him into Tyffanie's arms, it hit me: this isn't just a job for me.
It's my passion, and it's a privilege to witness and capture these moments of raw, unfiltered emotion.
In that moment, I realized I’m not just a photographer and birth keeper. I’m a storyteller, and so lucky to witness labor and birth and all of the newborn firsts... because I get to be a keeper of memories.
I’m so grateful for every second I spend behind the lens, capturing the raw and unfiltered beauty of birth and babies. These are the things I love and I’m so honored to get to be a part of your baby’s birthday!
